About Awareness Against Tobacco

Our work creates lasting changes

BBM is a Non-Governmental organization dedicated to empowering communities and driving positive social change through targeted capacity building and awareness initiatives. Established in 1992, while initially focused on health and disability issues, BBM has expanded its scope to include comprehensive training and workshop programs for key professional sectors, including educators, healthcare providers, media personnel, and fellow NGO workers. BBM operates on the principle that by empowering these influential community figures, it can create a ripple effect, leading to wider public awareness and sustainable development, particularly in public health areas such as tobacco control.

BBM's training programs are designed to be evidence-based, collaborative, and tailored to the unique needs of each professional group, with the goal of improving performance and promoting a culture of continuous learning.
  • For Teachers & Educators: BBM equips teachers with the skills and knowledge to integrate critical health and social messages into their curricula and create supportive learning environments. Training covers topics such as modern pedagogy, student mental health, safeguarding, and developing effective classroom strategies for promoting healthy choices and preventing tobacco use initiation among youth.
  • For Doctors & Healthcare Providers: Recognizing the pivotal role physicians play in public health, BBM organizes workshops focusing on current health challenges, such as the present situation of tobacco cessation and challenges in the healthcare system. These sessions cover continuing professional development (CPD), patient communication skills, ethical decision-making, and how to effectively counsel patients on harm reduction and quitting tobacco.
  • For Journalists & Media Personnel: BBM empowers journalists to become effective advocates for public health by improving the quality, accuracy, and visibility of health reporting. Workshops are designed to build trust between NGOs and media, improve data interpretation skills, and enable journalists to report critically on public health policies and hold relevant stakeholders accountable.
  • For NGO Workers: BBM offers specialized training for staff from other non-profits to enhance internal efficiency, project management, financial accountability, and communication skills. These capacity-building programs focus on ensuring projects are aligned with organizational values, meet donor requirements, and have a measurable, positive impact on the communities they serve.
